The Given Diagnostic System featuring the M2A® capsule is the newest technological advancement approved by the FDA to diagnose diseases of the small intestine. The patient swallows a capsule that contains a miniature, disposable camera. The camera capsule moves smoothly and painlessly through the GI tract. Over an eight-hour period the camera transmits over 55,000 images to a small receiver. This technology enables physicians to view the entire small intestine surface that was only previously available through surgery or invasive tests. University MRI & Diagnostic Imaging Centers was one of the first centers to offer this advanced technology to patients.
