Mammography:
Mammography is a specialized Medical Imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system to see inside the breast. A mammography exam called a mammogram aids in the early detection and diagnosis of breast diseases in women.

Breast tomography [3D] imaging of the breasts:

Breast tomography, also called three-dimensional mammography and digital breast tomosynthesis is an advanced form or breast imaging where multiple images of the breast from different angles are captured and reconstructed into a three-dimensional image set.

When to have a mammogram:
Screening mammography should start at the age of 40 and continues throughout life annually until such time as you and your physician determine that screening would no longer be of benefit. If you have a strong family history of breast cancer screening may commence before the age of 40. This age should be determined by you and your physician.

Obtaining results of your mammogram:
At University MRI and Diagnostic Imaging Centers our radiologist, Dr. Gerald Schmidt will personally review your case with you at the time of the examination. This helps to relieve the anxiety of waiting for results. All test results will also be sent to your doctor.
